April 3, 4– 6 p.m.: Bring your hiking books and ideas to help Hearty Soles co-chairs, plan the hikes for the 2019 season. We will meet at Melodee’s house. Bring an appetizer to share, drinks will be provided. Please RSVP to co-chairs Melodee Munckton or Carolyn Spaniol.
Wednesday October 10, Tour d’ Sunriver Bike Ride: We will meet at the Sunriver Lodge parking lot area at 11:00 A.M. for an easy, flat, total of 6 ½ mile bike ride. There will be one short, steep hill. We will be riding from the lodge, across the meadow, around by the river and then over to the business park for lunch at the Wildwood Coffee House. Lunch prices are from $5 to $8. After lunch we'll ride approximately one mile back to the lodge, our cars or to our homes. Total time will be approximately two hours. Saturday October 6, Clear Lake: Meet at Holy Trinity Church at 8 a.m. to carpool. This is a 5.5 mile loop around the lake, with gorgeous fall colors and easy terrain. Bring water, snack and soap for Care and Share. The hike should finish by 1:00. We will have lunch at a cafe in Sisters. The drive to Clear Lake takes 1 hour 20 minutes, so if you are returning directly to Sunriver you will be home by about 2:30. If you join us for lunch you will be home by about 3:30. Wednesday, September 19, Steins Pillar: A long drive to a rewarding, relatively short hike in the Ochoco Mountains east of Prineville. The scenic Steins Pillar Trail leads to the base of a pinkish 350-foot monolith. The hike is 4 miles total with a 680-foot elevation gain. Please RSVP to hike leaders Nancy Todd or Kris Besson.
Monday, September 17, Maidu Lake: Meet at 7 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. This moderate hike leaves from the Digit Point Campground at Miler Lake and is 4.75 miles to Maidu Lake. Total hike length is 9.75 miles with an elevation gain of about 800 feet. It is approximately 90 min driving time to trailhead. RSVP to Brigid Kennaday.
Wednesday, September 12, Mt Bachelor Hike– A strenuous 2.5 mile hike up Mt Bachelor that gains 2700 feet to the summit. Total trip is 5 miles. Leaders: Laura Dickinson & Cheryl Storm.
September 6: Scott Mtn. Loop - an 8 - 9 mile loop west of McKenzie Pass with a 1200 ft elevation gain. The trail goes by Benson and Tenas Lakes with good views of North Sister and Mt. Washington with a panorama at the top 6,116 ft Scott Mountain. Meet at HTCC at 7:45 a.m. for a long drive to trailhead. Sturdy hiking boots are a must; hiking poles recommended. Bring a lunch, plenty of water and $ 4 for the drivers.

August 15: Moraine Lake - meet at HTCC at 7 a.m. This is a 7.3 mile loop from the Devil’s Lake trailhead parking lot to Moraine Lake and back. It is rated difficult with a 2000 foot elevation gain. July 28: Rosary Lakes, The Rosary Lakes hike starts on the Pacific Crest Trail off Willamette Hwy 58 and is a 6 mile round trip hike to Lower Rosary Lake, past Middle Rosary Lake and on to North Rosary Lake. It is rated an easy hike thru the forest. Bring lunch to eat at one of the lakes before we head back. Also bring water, BUG SPRAY, soap for Care and Share, and $4 for driver.
